MOCHA POT
It is a kettle that is placed on a heat source such as a gas stove, and the steam generated when water in the boiler boils pushes up the water in the boiler and permeates the beans to extract concentrated coffee similar to espresso.
It was created in 1933 by Alfonso Vialletti in Italy. 'Bialetti' is a representative brand of moka pot with Italian identity for Italian people, and it is a thing to the extent that most 90% of Italians use it at home.
Moka pots are not washed often. The residual heat of the moka pot dries the moisture, and since the moka pot is used every day, it is difficult for bacteria to proliferate right away, and coffee traces remain in the pod, so the pot is not washed often to impart coffee flavor .
☕Extraction principle
When water is poured into the lower pot and boiled, steam passes through the coffee beans and coffee is extracted in the upper pot. Pour the fire down the pressure valve halfway down the bottom pot. If water blocks the pressure release valve, the pressure is excessive and you can know the danger.
☕Material of structure
moka pot |
The moka pot has a two-layer structure, with a lower port for water, an upper port for coffee extraction, and a basket for putting ground coffee on top of them. During normal storage, you should separate the lower port and basket from the upper port to prevent dark blue rust.
Mogaports are mainly made of aluminum, which has excellent thermal conductivity, but these days, they are also made of aluminum alloy, stainless steel, or ceramics.
☕Characteristics of coffee taste
It is a small, manual espresso device using the pressure of boiling water, and coffee is extracted in a short moment, so you can enjoy a rich taste with a small amount of caffeine, and it is easy and convenient to use. Due to the low pressure, the crema unique to espresso is not discolored to feel the taste of dark coffee.
